Fourways
About Fourways Blinds: measure-and-fit shading for the estate belt
Fourways Blinds is a made-to-measure window shading service working across the Fourways estate belt in northern Johannesburg. Nothing here is sold off a shelf: every roller blind, day/night blind, motorised system and patio awning is manufactured to the sizes taken at your house, for the exact opening it is going on.
Built for a house that is always half indoors, half out
Fourways is not an old suburb with a settled way of doing windows. The belt behind the William Nicol and Witkoppen strip is still building, and most of the enquiries we get are for windows nobody has ever dressed before. The pattern repeats from one new build to the next: an open-plan kitchen and living area, a bank of stacking or sliding doors in aluminium frames, and a patio that is really just another room with a roof. The brief is rarely one small window per wall; it is one very large opening the whole family lives around, and the blind is managing the room rather than decorating the window.
The range follows that: blockout roller blinds for bedrooms and media rooms, sunscreen rollers for wide north and west glass, the double roller that gives a bedroom both, day/night blinds for living areas and complex-facing windows, aluminium venetians for studies and sculleries, cellular blinds for double-volume glazing, vertical and panel blinds for wide spans, concealed systems for architect-designed homes, motorisation with app, remote, schedule and sensor control, folding-arm awnings with wind-sensor retraction, outdoor zip screens, roller shutters as shading, and honest repairs before we ever talk replacement.
The estate belt we cover
Fourways first, then the neighbouring areas we know just as well. Lonehill is an established mix of gated townhouse and cluster complexes and freestanding homes, where much of what we quote sits inside body-corporate-governed schemes. Broadacres and Cedar Lakes are still in build-out, with new cluster and estate developments adding stock along the northern edge. Helderfontein Estate is one of the newest developments on the Fourways-north side, where most enquiries are full-house fit-outs at lock-up stage. Dainfern is an established golf estate just west, laid out in villages of distinctly different architecture, with original aluminium sliders in the older ones and floor-to-ceiling stackers in the rebuilt ones.
Four steps, one consultant, no surprises
The order of events never changes. You enquire by chat or the form, telling us the rooms, roughly how many windows, and your area. One of our expert consultants will contact you shortly to book a free in-home measure. At that visit every window is measured properly, width in three places and drop in three, with sample books open, and the fabric, openness and control options are worked through room by room against the light each one actually gets, including a walk round the elevations with a compass.
A written quote follows, itemised per window, so you can see what each blind costs before anything is ordered; pricing is confirmed in that document and so is the lead time for your order. Once you approve it, everything is made to those measurements and fitted by the installers, levelled, tested and demonstrated before they leave. One consultant handles the whole job from the first call to the fitting day.
What the estate belt actually needs
Three local facts set the specification. Open-plan living rooms facing north and west catch the sharp end of the Highveld afternoon in summer, so sunscreen and motorised rollers do the glare-on-the-television work indoors while an awning or zip screen stops the four o'clock heat outside the glass. October to March brings sudden thunderstorms with real wind and hail behind them, so any awning or exterior screen carries a wind sensor as standard. And with so many young families in the estates, cordless and motorised control in children's rooms is the norm we quote to, with a chain tensioner anchoring every corded blind elsewhere in the house.
What we will not tell you
We will not tell you your estate requires approval for an awning, because we do not know every estate's current rules; we will tell you it is worth asking the estate office before anything is bolted to an outside wall. We will not call a roller shutter a security product: the ones we fit are shading, for sun, heat, glare and light control on the outside of the glass, and a security-rated product is available on request as a different item. We will not quote a price before the measure, we will not fit an awning in a wind funnel that will not last, and we will not sell motorisation on a single standard window where a chain does the job.
Getting in touch
Fill in the enquiry form on any page, or use the chat button in the corner for a quicker back-and-forth; it answers product and area questions at any hour. An enquiry books a free in-home measure and is not a purchase. Your details are used only to arrange that consultation call-back, handled under POPIA: not sold, not passed on, not added to a mailing list.
